Vastu tips for the Yantra

Yantra is a super science that evolved in ancient India. It can be called a variation of numerology because of its unique usage of numbers, letters and symbols (both abstract and natural). In Sanskrit, the word yantra comes from the dhatu (root) “yam”, which means holding the essence of an object. The syllable “tra” comes from the word “trana” which means liberation from bondage. So, literally, it means a symbol that enables us to perceive beyond bondage. Generally speaking, every religion and culture throughout the world has extracted symbolic elements, which are powerful in themselves.

Symbols compiled in geometrical shape and with some numbers and letters in Sanskrit were prevalent in earlier times. Natural forms that express a deity’s identity are also used: naturally-formed, smooth rocks are recognized as the Shivlingam and certain round and flat forms are identified as the Shaligram, the identity of Lord Vishnu. These diagrams can be called an instrument or a mystical diagram and termed as yantra.

A person who is an expert in the art of yantra is called yantrik. To bring these yantras into actions, certain mantras are also used. Each deity has his/her own yantra. For example, Goddess Lakshmi is associated with a yantra known as the “Shri Yantra”.

The art of yantra also tells us about the development in mathematics and geometry that took place thousands of years ago in India, when most parts of the world was still in darkness. This super science related to mathematics evolved in India: for those still not in the know, India is the land where Aryabhatta, the person who invented the “Zero”, was born.

How Yantras are Made
Yantras are made using numbers and some interlocked triangles. In yantras, different numbers are used, which are placed in a chain of triangles. The numbers are placed in such a way that if we add them from any direction, we will get the same result.

A yantra is inscribed in a particular metal. The most widely used metals are gold, silver and copper. At an auspicious moment, the yantra is empowered by a mantra, after which the yantra becomes powerful and effective. It’s the union of mantra, metal and numbers that make the yantra powerful.
The yantras have to be constructed, and energized by a mantra. Then the yantra has to be commissioned in one’s place in order to attain the desired effect. There are numerous yantras which are dedicated to particular deities.

There are three dimensions of Indian mysticism: Yantra, Mantra and Tantra, and all are closely connected. In ancient scriptures, yantras and mantras are compared with the body and the mind; if the yantra is the body, the mantra is the mind.

The yantra, mantra and tantra were the endeavour of ignited minds of ancient times to acquire the cosmic power and channelize it to get the desired results.

A yantra generates the energy required for meditation. It also helps in concentration and regulates the mind in a proper way.  The difference between yantra and mantra can be called the difference between mind and body. Energy is invoked in a yantra and this energy can be directed towards a constructive side, fulfilling the wishes of a person
