Tantra is an art of channeling the power of the universe into a constructive way. It evolved thousands of years ago in India. The objective of tantra is to gain power. It’s known as shakti sadhana. There are three distinct divisions of tantras. They are: vaishnav tantra (brahma tantra), maya tantra (bhamini tantra) and Rudra Tantra (bhairavee tantra). But various sub-division of these tantras are also available.
But basically all the forms of the tantras are same. It’s the art of gaining the power from the universe. There are three basic objectives of tantra: to acquire knowledge, self- interaction, and freedom from the trin.
Tantra put emphasis on the principles of living a meaningful life. It also puts equal importance on enjoyment. Along with carrying out the responsibilities on earth, one should also have enjoyment.
The scriptures on tantra shastra tell us about six types of bonds in a human life. They are lajja (Shame), grina (hatred), bhay (fear), krodh (Anger), jugupsa(…), jaati ( caste) kul(Community), sheel (…..).If a person gets free from all these eight bonds, he becomes equal to Shiva. And only through tantra, a person can become free from all these eight bonds.
Tantra, Mantra and Yantra
In mantra, there is no tradition of repetition of any particular phase. The repeated phases in any mantra are part of the tantra traditions. The beej mantra of all the planets that we get in astrology are the contributions of the tantra traditions only. The “Yantra” is also another contribution of tantra tradition. Kundalini sadhana, has become very popular in the recent times. Actually it’s also a part of tantra tradition.
Tantra and its logic.
There is no denying the fact the universe is the manifestation of energy. The word “tantra” literally means circuit, network, system etc. This word is used in various terms in ancient sciences, like naadi tantra, shareer tantra, etc.
Everything in the universe works like a power circuit. The universe is nothing but a complex power circuit. Everything in the world is connected as positive (+) or negative (-) forms of current. For example, a human being releases “-“ power waves and the Sun releases “+”. This is applicable to everything and the whole universe is working like a power circuit. Tantra is all about to acquire power from this natural power circuit.
Daivik trouble are created by God, for example, earthquake, flood, tsunami etc. Certain diseases that kills thousands of people at one time are also a part of daivik prakop. Daihik trouble indicates the troubles related to the human body. The suffering because of any problem in any organ of our body is a part of daihik prakop.
Bhauktik prakop lead to mental suffering. Suffering because of any quarrel, legal procedures, unemployment etc are part of bhautik prakop. It creates sorrow in human life.
Human life is full of these three types of sufferings. These types of suffering make a person feel insecure.
We often we ask ourselves. How we can get rid of sufferings, how we can feel secure in life, How we can get freedom from grief and sorrow, Such questions evolved in the minds of the great sages in ancient time too. And they devoted themselves in quest of a power that can enable human being to acquire & control opposite power to tackle the power that is causing suffering to mankind. Such a quest led to the birth of tantra.
